Schools

 

The University has been re-organized to function through the following Schools of Learning :

  1. School of Computer and Information Sciences
     

    This School is under over-all supervision of two full time computer experts, namely, Amar Nath Pandey (MCA,M.Phil.) and Smt. Kiran Pandey (MCA). Besides, a host of other computer experts are drawn from reputed institutions to do counselling and teaching work for students offering computer courses.. Through this School, the University is imparting education and practical training in Master of Computer Application (MCA),Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) programmes and a nine months’ Certificate Course in Computing (CIC).  The University has also introduced a four weeks’ course in home usages of computers, on a nominal fee basis, for laymen, senior citizens, and house-wives etc. with a view to providing these sections of society enough knowledge and practice of computer handling so that they can perform their day-to-day work on-line and make use of computer for works, like, railway reservation, banking transactions, word processing, letter drafting, telephony, use of internet etc. Through this school, the University is imparting computer education in the following programmes.

  2. School of Economics, Commerce and Management

    This School is headed by Prof. (Dr.) Ramawatar Singh, former Head of the Department of Economics, Magadh University. It is responsible for designing, developing and coordination all courses in Economics, Commerce and Management at Post-Graduate, Graduate and Intermediate levels. Till date, the following courses have been developed by this school.

  4. School of Indian and Foreign Languages

    This School is headed by Prof. Sia Ram Tiwary, former Head of the Department of Hindi and Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Vishvabharti University, Shantiniketan, West Bengal. This school is responsible for designing and developing different course at Certificate, Diploma, Graduate and Post-Graduate levels in Indian and Foreign Languages. Till date, the following programmes have been developed by this school.

  5. School of Indology

    Indology is a discipline, dealing with the study of Indian History, Literature, Philosophy, and Culture; with added emphasis on study of Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaelogy. This  school is headed by Prof.(Dr.) Niloo Singh, former Professor of History, J. D. Women's College, Patna.  The School of Indology has, till date, developed the following programmes.

  6. School of Journalism and Mass Communication
     

    This School is has been established by the University to design and develop courses in the fast growing area of Mass Communication and Journalism, including T.V. Jounalism. Recently, the University has appointed Prof. Arjun Tiwary, Former Head of the Department of Jounalism and Mass Communication, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, U.P. The School has so far developed the following programmes.

  7. School of Teacher's Education

    This School offers the following courses.

        7.2   B. Ed.

     

    The B. Ed. programme of the Nalanda Open University is a two year course meant only for in service teachers of primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary schools, who have completed atlesait two years of teaching as on 31.5.2009 and who have secured atleast 45% of marks at the Graduate level examination. They also must be paid teachers appointed against regular vacancy. The University is also in the process of introducing M.Ed. programme for Elementary School Teachers is also on the anvil. The School of Teacher's Education has a full fledged and whole time faculty of six teachers, headed by Prof. (Dr.) Jayashree Sen Majumdar, former Reader in Education, Women's Training College, Patna.

     

  8. School of Library and Information Science

     

    This School is responsible for conducting the following programmes.

        8.3   Certificate course in Library and Information Science

     

    This School is headed by Prof. (Dr.) U.M. Thakur, former Prof. and Head of the Department of Library and Information Science, Patna University.

    This School is responsible for designing, developing and coordinating all programmes in pure and agricultural sciences. Till date, this School ha s developed the following programmes.

Gandhi, Former H.O.D. Chemistry, Patna University, (iv) Prof. (Dr.) Jagadish Ojha, Former Head of Department, Zoology, T.M. Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur, (v) Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Sharma, Former Professor of Physics, Patna University.

     

  10. School of Social Sciences

     

    School of Social Sciences is headed by Prof. (Dr.) R.P. Singh Rahi, former Head of the Department of Political Science and Principal, Patna College, Patna University. This School is responsible for designing, developing and coordinating Post Graduate, Graduate, Intermediate and Certificate Programmes in Social Sciences.
